Our Pleasant Valley facility is the processing center for Recycle Management’s own yards and for material from salvage dealers, local municipalities and industrial accounts. Located at 1049 Pleasant Valley Road in Harrisonburg, the site combines automobile shredding, downstream metal recovery, heavy material handling and rail service.
No public scrap drop-off. Individuals should use our South Main Street public yard.

Built for the next stage of metal recycling
We acquired the Pleasant Valley property and began construction in 2016, developing it into the processing center for our recycling network. Materials received through our public yards come here for further processing, alongside loads from salvage dealers, local municipalities and industrial accounts.
The facility supports customers in Pleasant Valley, Harrisonburg, Bridgewater, Dayton, Mount Crawford, Port Republic, Weyers Cave and the wider Rockingham County and Shenandoah Valley region. Contact our industrial team to discuss material specifications and delivery arrangements.
Automobile shredding & downstream recovery
Our advanced downstream system uses more than 200 processes to separate and recover metal from shredded material. Much of the equipment has been designed, engineered and built by our own team, allowing us to keep improving recovery throughout the system.
Alongside recovering ferrous and non-ferrous metals, we have begun work to recover plastics remaining after metal recycling. This is an ongoing area of development as we work to recover more value from the material we process.
Heavy material handling & shearing
The Pleasant Valley site has 40-, 60- and 80-ton material handlers, large-capacity wheel loaders and 1,350-ton shearing capacity to support processing of heavy and oversized scrap.

Inbound & outbound weighing
Dedicated inbound and outbound truck scales support receiving and shipping. The facility has radiation detection, and handheld radiation detection equipment is also used during material inspections across all Recycle Management sites.
Buy and ship scrap metal by rail
We receive scrap by rail and load processed material out by rail. Our fleet of 96 high-sided RCYX railcars can support metal shipments, with placement and routing arranged through our industrial team.
Intermodal rail transloading
Our rail yard offers container loading and unloading with a Liebherr reach stacker, hopper-bottom railcar unloading, crane handling and bulk commodity storage. Discuss the rail, truck and port connections for your shipment with our team.

Our industrial processing supports the individuals, farms and businesses who recycle through our public yards. Across Recycle Management, we support local 4-H and FFA programs and purchase at local fairs. Local students can contact their nearest public yard to arrange free use of the scales.
